This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney who is capable of undertaking complex litigation and appellate advocacy without substantial oversight by senior attorneys. **Job Title:** Legal Counsel **Salary:** $568874 **Experience:** ; Trial experience preferred **Location:** Scottsdale, AZ or Lansdowne, VA ## Overview of Legal Counsel Role Organization is looking for a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join their team in their Scottsdale, AZ or Lansdowne, VA office. As Legal Counsel, you will be a part of the US Legal Division Team and report to Sr. Counsel. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney who is capable of undertaking complex litigation and appellate advocacy without substantial oversight by senior attorneys. The Legal Counsel will be responsible for conducting research, interviewing clients and witnesses, preparing and responding to written discovery, conducting and defending depositions, representing clients in court and before quasi-judicial or administrative agencies of government, interpreting laws, rulings and regulations for individuals and businesses, conferring with colleagues to establish and verify basis for legal proceedings, cooperating with the Development team including speaking engagements and other events, reviewing in-house contracts and legal issues, interacting with media regarding cases and issues, advising allied attorneys on legal issues within areas of competence, networking and developing relationships with allied attorneys and/or potential allied attorneys, training junior attorneys, performing quality control via review and editing of junior attorneys’ drafts, in-house workshops, and one-on-one mentoring. ## Responsibilities of Legal Counsel The Legal Counsel will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: - Conducting research, interviewing clients, witnesses - Preparing and responding to written discovery; conducting and defending depositions; - Representing clients in court, and before quasi-judicial or administrative agencies of government; interpreting laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses. - Conferring with colleagues to establish and verify basis for legal proceedings - Cooperating with Development team, including speaking engagements and other events - Reviewing in-house contracts and legal issues - Interacting with media regarding cases and issues - Advising allied attorneys on legal issues within areas of competence. - Networking and developing relationships with allied attorneys, and/or potential allied attorneys. - Training junior attorneys; performing quality control via review and editing of junior attorneys’ drafts; in-house workshops, and one-on-one mentoring ## Skills Needed to be Successful in this Role The successful candidate for this role will possess the following skills and abilities: - Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Westlaw - Excellent organizational skills - Excellent communication skills, both oral and written - Excellent analytical skills. - Strong attention to detail and proven project management skills - Excellent problem-solving skills. - Proven customer service and excellent interpersonal skills. - Ability to professionally handle confidential information - Ability to work, motivate, and initiate within a team. - Ability to prioritize and achieve deadline goals ## Education and/or Experience The ideal candidate for this role will possess a Bachelor’s degree and a ., be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction, and have trial experience. ## Salary and Benefits Organization offers team members a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes major medical insurance, dental care, medical and dependent care reimbursement, paid disability, long-term care insurance, and life insurance.
