The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an Assistant Attorney General (AAG) to join the Child Support Division. This position will be responsible for representing the state’s interest in judicial and administrative matters related to child support, providing legal advice and consultation, and delivering training to program staff. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, a Juris Doctor (.) degree, and be licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas. They must also have knowledge of Family Law and the Texas Family Code, as well as skills in legal writing, mediation, and negotiation. Title: Assistant Attorney General I-IV Salary: $6, - $7, per month Job Type: Full-time Location: Pflugerville, Texas Key Responsibilities: - Represent the State of Texas at legal proceedings related to child support and medical support - Provide legal advice, consultation, and technical assistance to the Child Support Program - Develop and deliver training to program staff - Maintain knowledge of relevant laws and regulations - Attend work regularly in compliance with schedule - Ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive information - Comply with agency policies and procedures, including those related to ethics and integrity Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university - Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (.) degree - Licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas - Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas - Knowledge of Family Law and the Texas Family Code - Skill in legal writing, mediation, and negotiation - Skill in using a personal computer for word-processing and data entry/retrieval - Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines - Effective oral and written communication skills - Ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions - Ability to receive and respond positively to feedback - Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment - Ability to provide excellent customer service - Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location and perform all assigned tasks at designated workspace within OAG work location - Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel - Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA - Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs. - Ability to travel up to 25%, including overnight travel Preferred Qualifications: - Two years of experience in handling Family Law cases - Jury trial experience - Experience in handling a high-volume legal practice - Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish To apply for this position, please submit an electronic application through CAPPS Recruit.
