Job Description:

As the Commercial and Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney - Vice President, Assistant General Counsel, you will provide expert advice and guidance on commercial and consumer bankruptcy matters, review and approve legal documents, and partner with key internal stakeholders to implement legal strategies. You will be responsible for managing, overseeing, and advising on bankruptcy cases, including critical vendor bankruptcies, and will be expected to form and develop effective legal strategies to mitigate legal, operational, and financial risks.

Responsibilities:

- Provide expert advice and guidance on commercial and consumer bankruptcy matters
- Review and approve legal documents
- Partner with key internal stakeholders to implement legal strategies
- Manage, oversee, and advise on bankruptcy cases, including critical vendor bankruptcies
- Develop effective legal strategies to mitigate legal, operational, and financial risks
- Provide legal support to Consumer and Community Banking (CCB) bankruptcy and recovery operations
- Act as a trusted advisor to the business in developing and enhancing bankruptcy recovery activities and controls
- Ensure compliance with bankruptcy legal requirements
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholder groups on changing legal requirements
- Conduct comprehensive and in-depth research on bankruptcy laws, regulations, and precedents

Qualifications:

- 5+ years of chapter 11 bankruptcy experience, including complex workouts and restructurings, the representation of debtors, secured creditors, official committees, and unsecured creditors in complex bankruptcy cases
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Compliance with all relevant licensing requirements
- Strong knowledge and understanding of complex bankruptcy legal framework
- Knowledge and understanding of bankruptcy legal issues and regulatory requirements impacting creditors
- Ability to prioritize and interact effectively with senior management

Preferred Qualifications:

- Regulatory or compliance experience
- Experience working with bank regulators, bankruptcy trustees and/or the Office of the United States Trustee
