Overview:

The Strategic Claims Director will be responsible for overseeing litigation matters related to first party property claims at AmTrust Property Claim. This role requires someone with extensive coverage experience in commercial property insurance for first parties, and at least 10 years of experience examining complex coverage issues. The ideal candidate will also have experience in managing risk transfer and exposure allocation, writing coverage opinions and correspondence, and acting as coverage counsel at third party liability mediations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide coverage advice to claims professionals and senior management in connection with first party property claims
- Track changes to coverage law in all 50 states and advise management and claim professionals on the impact of changes
- Attend mediations, arbitrations, appraisals, settlement meetings, and conferences around the country as needed
- Develop, present, and implement coverage training initiatives for the Property claim organization
- Work independently to analyze legal issues and develop effective coverage dispute resolution strategies

Qualifications:

- Senior level knowledge of legal issues relating to claims, coverage, and litigation management within an insurance organization
- Excellent technical and product-specific expertise and knowledge of insurance and claims practices and procedures
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external business partners
- Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and creatively solve unique and challenging business problems
- Bachelor's degree and . required, with admission to the bar of at least one state and the ability to obtain in-house counsel admission if required
- Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant legal experience with a track record of positive results
