In this role, you will provide legal services and representation to asylum seekers seeking protection before . Citizenship and Immigration Services and the immigration courts. Responsibilities: - Conduct preliminary intake interviews and assess income eligibility for services - Develop and implement complex case strategies in consultation with supervisor - Prepare cases for interviews or hearings, including drafting legal papers and presenting evidence - Stay current on immigration law, policies, and procedures - Develop and maintain professional relationships with government and social service organizations - Refer clients for necessary assistance when needed - Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards - Keep accurate records and prepare timely statistical reports - Participate in training and conduct training sessions as assigned - Identify trends and recommend strategies for solutions and advocacy - Interpret and translate for project staff as needed - Adhere to professional standards and participate in evaluations and training opportunities Qualifications: - Law degree (JD) and license to practice law - Minimum of 3 years' experience in immigration law, with experience in asylum law preferred - Self-motivated and committed to civil liberties advocacy - Ability to handle complex cases and formulate legal strategies - Excellent writing and analytical skills - Fluency in spoken and written Spanish or French required - Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and organizations - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle a variety of situations Salary Information: The salary range for this position is $72,000-$84,600.
