Job Title: Assistant Attorney General IV-V - Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Salary: $106, - $124, per year Organization: Office of the Attorney General Department: Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Location: Houston, Texas Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week Grade: 28-30 Openings: 1 Posting Date: November 29, 2023 Closing Date: Ongoing Overview: The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Assistant Attorney General IV-V in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU). This position will also serve as a Trial Attorney/Prosecutor for the National Rapid Response Strike Force in the Health Care Fraud Unit of the . Department of Justice. The selected candidate will be responsible for independently directing, conducting, and monitoring investigations, preparing for and conducting trials, and advising on pleadings and other court filings. Responsibilities: • Handle the development and management of health care fraud prosecutions • Make charging decisions and propose dispositions for assigned cases • Develop and maintain the Section’s program to foster effective national investigation and prosecution of health care fraud violations • Supervise day-to-day activities under the Department of Justice • Conduct legal research and report findings and conclusions • Use personal or agency pool vehicles for business-related travel • Ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive information • Comply with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity • Comply with federal grant funding requirements for the MFCU Minimum Qualifications: • Graduation from an accredited law school with a . • Licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas • Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas • Three years of full-time litigation experience • Knowledge of relevant laws and legal principles and practices • Skill in handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines • Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing • Ability to work cooperatively with others and provide excellent customer service • Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location or US Attorney’s Office • Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel • Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and lift up to 30 lbs. • Ability to travel up to 50% Preferred Qualifications: • Experience as a criminal prosecutor • Experience with civil or criminal health care fraud matters • Knowledge of white collar crime litigation • Experience in supporting, litigating, and supervising federal or state criminal cases • Experience in .
