Job Summary:
GEICO is seeking an Attorney I/II to join their team in Atlanta, GA. The position will involve defending lawsuits filed in Georgia courts and other first party insurance defense. The ideal candidate will have 4-5+ years of experience in a related field and a Juris Doctor degree. They must also be licensed in good standing to practice law in Georgia and meet all licensing requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
- Providing opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
- Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery
- Conducting depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath
- Defending by trial or dispositive hearing, as applicable
- Traveling as required to attend trials, hearings, depositions, and conferences
- Documenting files in a clear, concise, and professional manner
- Following complex instructions and resolving conflicts
- Learning and applying technical and procedural information

Qualifications:
- 4-5+ years of experience in a related field
- Juris Doctor degree
- Admission to the Georgia Bar
- Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Georgia
- Must meet and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements
- Must be able to travel as required
- Must have strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information

Preferred Qualifications:
- Civil litigation experience
- Insurance defense-related litigation experience
- Professional communication skills in person, on the phone, and in written correspondence/email

Location:
This position is located in Atlanta, GA and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The employee will be required to work in the office 2-3 days per week and attend in-person court hearings.
