The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a Managing Attorney for their Child Support division. This is a full-time, regular position with a salary range of $8, - $9, per month. The Managing Attorney will be responsible for supervising all office personnel, representing the State of Texas at legal proceedings, and providing legal advice and counsel for child support enforcement. The OAG offers excellent benefits and opportunities for growth within a large and dynamic state agency. Key Responsibilities: - Represent the State of Texas at legal proceedings - Supervise all office personnel, including hiring, evaluating, counseling, and training - Provide legal advice and counsel for child support enforcement - Monitor and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and policies - Respond to inquiries and resolve issues from various customers - Serve as primary office legal counsel - Develop and deliver training - Maintain relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions - Attend work regularly and comply with agency policies and procedures Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university - Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (.) degree - Licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas - Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas - Four (4) years of full-time legal experience, with at least two (2) years in Family Law - Knowledge of Family Law and the Texas Family Code - Skill in legal writing, mediation, and negotiation - Skill in serving as a trial lawyer, preparing sound opinions, conducting investigations, and performing legal research - Skill in using a personal computer for word-processing and data entry/retrieval - Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Ability to exercise sound judgment and effective decision making - Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment - Ability to provide excellent customer service - Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location and perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG workspace, and work in person with coworkers for the entirety of every work week - Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel - Ability to work more than 40 hours per week as needed and in compliance with the FLSA - Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs. - Ability to travel up to 25% (including overnight travel) - Preferred qualifications include experience in the Texas Child Support Program, handling a high-volume legal practice, and management experience - Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus To apply for this position, please submit an electronic application through CAPPS Recruit.
