Our staff of highly experienced and dedicated attorneys provide a wide variety of civil legal assistance and advocacy, including but not limited to representing victims of domestic violence, tenants facing unfair and arbitrary eviction, seniors victimized by unscrupulous creditors, and clients facing many other types of legal matters. We are currently seeking an experienced attorney to serve as our Managing Attorney for our Senior Law Unit. This position is located in Northeast New Jersey, with offices in Jersey City, Paterson, and Hackensack within easy commuting distance from Northern New Jersey and New York City via public transportation. Managing Attorney – Senior Law Unit Location: Northeast New Jersey Position Description: • Supervise the work of all senior law unit casehandlers in our Jersey City, Paterson, and Hackensack offices. • Review and approve all litigation and appeals handled by the unit. • Design and implement unit priorities and case handling protocols. • Provide training to new attorneys. • Oversee the overall performance and day-to-day activities of the unit. • Work alongside other managers to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services. • Attend grantee meetings and site visits. • Carry a limited caseload. • Participate in community education and outreach. • Some travel may be required between offices. Position Qualifications: • Admission to practice law in the State of New Jersey. • At least five years of practice experience. • Excellent writing and oral advocacy skills. • Prior Legal Services experience or a demonstrated commitment to legal assistance for the disadvantaged is preferred. • Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
