## Overview of TRLA Fellowships

Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) offers a variety of fellowship opportunities for undergraduate and law students, as well as post-graduate fellows.

The fellowships are unpaid, and TRLA is a host for post-graduate fellowships. TRLA has limited summer fellowship funding available for students placed in rural offices.

Applicants should seek fellowships or other public interest funding through their school or other external sources, as TRLA fellowship funds are limited.

TRLA accepts applications for unpaid clerkships and internships year-round.

## Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible for a TRLA Fellowship, applicants must:

- Be an undergraduate or law student, recent law graduate, or judicial clerk
- Have Spanish fluency
- Have an interest in rural or border placement

Applicants must submit the following information when applying for a TRLA fellowship:

- Preferred start date
- Undergraduate student or recent graduate seeking internship, seeking clerkship or summer fellowship, 3L law student, recent law graduate, or judicial clerk seeking postgraduate fellowship, or other
- Whether or not they would like to be considered for a TRLA summer fellowship
- Types of cases or areas of law they are interested in
- Tasks they are interested in helping with or particular skills they'd like to develop
- Where they are going to law school
- Approximate date of graduation
- Where they got their undergraduate degree(s)
- Approximate date of graduation from undergraduate school
- Spanish language proficiency
- Preferred offices
- Cover letter
- Resume
- Writing sample
- References
- How they heard about TRLA
- Whether or not they are related to any current employee of TRLA, TRLA's Board of Directors, or other person that is compensated by TRLA for their services
