Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) offers unpaid internships and clerkships for undergraduate and law students in offices across its service area. Undergraduates and recent graduates can apply for internships, while law students can apply for clerkships or summer fellowships.

## Prerequisites

TRLA interns and clerks must have:

- Spanish fluency
- An interest in rural or border placement

## Application Process

TRLA accepts applications for unpaid internships and clerkships year-round. Applicants must submit a cover letter addressing one or more of the following:

- Describe a significant legal or social justice experience and its impact on your plan to pursue public interest law.
- Describe some of the unique challenges you think or know clients in our service area may experience in rural or border areas and how an agency like TRLA can help.
- Describe any connection, personal or professional, to our service area and the client populations we serve.

Applicants must also submit a resume, writing sample, references, and indicate their preferred start date and Spanish language fluency. They must also select their preferred offices and indicate whether they would like to be considered for a TRLA summer fellowship.

## Salary

TRLA internships and clerkships are unpaid. We have limited summer fellowship funding for students placed in a rural office.
