LSA is seeking passionate and dedicated attorneys to join our team as Mental Health Staff Attorneys. These positions will be funded by a grant from the Alabama Department of Mental Health and will provide legal representation to low-income individuals facing mental health conditions, substance use conditions, and/or intellectual disabilities. The primary focus of these positions will be on housing stabilization, but will also include civil legal matters in areas such as estate, family, housing, consumer, education, public benefits, and unemployment law.

Responsibilities:

- Provide legal representation to low-income individuals with mental health, substance use, and/or intellectual disability conditions
- Focus on housing stabilization and other civil legal matters
- Collaborate with other organizations to find solutions to systemic issues caused by poverty and social justice inequities
- Maintain strong legal writing and communication skills
- Adhere to Alabama Bar admission requirements
- Preference for bilingual attorneys

Qualifications:

- Admission to the Alabama Bar
- Passion for serving low-income populations
- Strong legal writing and communication skills
- Bilingual preferred

LSA is currently seeking Mental Health Staff Attorneys to join our team under a grant from the Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH). These positions will provide legal representation to low-income individuals dealing with mental health, substance use, and/or intellectual disability conditions. The primary focus of these positions will be on housing stabilization, but will also include other civil legal matters such as estate, family, housing, consumer, education, public benefits, and unemployment law.

As a Mental Health Staff Attorney, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need while also gaining valuable legal experience and skills. Strong legal writing and communication skills are required for this position, and preference will be given to bilingual attorneys. Alabama Bar admission is also required, and reciprocity is recognized in certain states.

LSA offers a competitive salary of $54,810+ based on experience, as well as an excellent benefits package valued at approximately $20,000. This includes six weeks of paid leave annually and 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for each employee. The position is full-time and open until filled.
