The organization is currently seeking an experienced Prosecuting Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will have a Juris Doctorate's degree from an accredited college or university school of law, at least two years of experience as an Attorney 1, and be a member of the Washington State Bar Association. The position is within the Prosecuting Attorney department and is classified as an Attorney 2, which is the second and journey working level in this series. The salary for this position ranges from $78, to $109, annually.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Performs civil or criminal legal work for the County Prosecutor or Public Defender
- Responsible for performing civil or criminal legal work at the second and journey working level in the series
- Provides professional guidance and counseling to legal interns
- Responsible for one or more legal programs of the department
- Provides guidance and counseling on a case by case basis for unusual or difficult problems
- Assists or independently represents the County or a client in court, at trials, hearings, arraignments, and depositions
- Interviews witnesses, plaintiffs, victims, and/or clients/suspects
- Conducts legal research, provides legal opinions or memorandums, and drafts legal documents and correspondence
- Addresses issues, questions, and concerns from clients and/or their representatives
- Responds to written motions and provides oral arguments in court
- Oversees direct and cross examination of witnesses
- Works with investigators, paralegals, and secretaries to manage court dates, filings, and case investigations
- Assists former clients who have violated probation
- Represents the County or a client in court, at hearings, arraignments, depositions, and sentencing
- Files legal documents and papers in the Clerk's office
- Reviews assigned cases for probable cause and researches criminal histories
- Prepares briefs and memorandums for appeal proceedings
- Signs up new cases and conducts legal research, including meeting with clients, reviewing evidence, and interviewing witnesses
- Serves as liaison with Child Protective Services
- Prepares for and appears in court for guilty pleas and probation hearings
- Represents the State or plaintiff at arraignments, trials, sentencing, and all pre-trial and post-trial hearings
- Provides written and oral legal opinions to County departments
- Drafts legal documents and instruments
- Argues cases and motions in court or before an administrative body
- Answers inquiries from private citizens or their attorneys

Minimum Requirements:

- Juris Doctorate's degree from an accredited college or university school of law
- Two years of experience at the level of Attorney 1
- Member of the Washington State Bar Association
