Job summary:

Nike is seeking a Senior Assistant General Counsel, Employment Law – Americas, to serve as an advisor and counselor to Human Resources and business managers on employment law issues. This role requires someone who can provide expert, principled, pragmatic, and commercially relevant advice. The ideal candidate will have a global mindset and be able to think at the enterprise level, providing informed legal risk assessments in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication abilities are essential for this position.

Key responsibilities:

- Serve as a subject matter authority in all areas of federal and state employment laws, providing timely and practical legal advice to Human Resources teams, Employee Relations, and business leaders.
- Partner with other members of the Global Employment Law and Employee Relations team and report directly to Nike's Senior Director, Assistant General Counsel, Employment Law - Americas.
- Handle employment law matters across the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
- Partner with outside counsel for employment litigation and lead the process through resolution.
- Coordinate and supervise responses to administrative charges, demand letters, and other potential disputes.
- Provide advice and counsel on legal compliance issues impacting employees and assist in developing strategic plans for all employment-related matters.

Requirements:

- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and active state bar license in good standing.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in employment law, with a focus on labor and employment-related litigation, administrative proceedings, advice & counsel, and compliance issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels of a complex matrix organization.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations.
