Counsel, Claim - Remote Hybrid Opportunity in OH Job Summary: Travelers is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Counsel, Claim to join our team in OH on a full-time basis. As a member of our Legal team, you will handle a caseload of predominantly low to moderate complexity cases and be responsible for conducting legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, attending court events, and providing recommendations to our Claim and insured clients. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of prior litigation practice or prior legal experience, a Juris Doctorate degree, and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality legal work. Job Responsibilities: - Develop and apply effective trial skills and techniques to litigate cases to verdict. - Conduct legal research and demonstrate strong persuasive writing and presentation skills. - Supervise research projects and delegate tasks to Associate Counsel and paralegals. - Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents. - Attend court events and appointments independently. - Learn and understand Claim and client expectations. - Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients and business partners. - Utilize support staff and technology effectively. - Travel as required to meet business needs. - Provide advice and training to Claim partners and clients. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: - 3+ years of prior litigation practice or prior legal experience. - Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. - Active license in good standing to practice law in the state(s) in which representation is required. - Valid driver's license (depending on location). - Strong research and negotiation skills. - Ability to analyze legal issues with minimal supervision. - Commitment to delivering high-quality legal work. - Works collaboratively with team members and others. - Personal commitment to professional development. - Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities. - Demonstrates legal acumen and sense of urgency/responsiveness.
