BDO is currently seeking a Director to join our thriving Privacy & Data Protection Practice and lead engagements as a subject matter expert. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop and deliver global data protection and privacy strategies, build relationships with clients, and manage project teams to ensure timely and quality service delivery.

In this role, you will also have the chance to collaborate with BDO Member Firms and offshore team members, as well as participate in industry events and conduct business unit, legal, IT, privacy, and governance interviews and meetings. Position Summary:

As the Director of Privacy & Data Protection at BDO, you will be responsible for developing and delivering global data protection and privacy strategies to client C-suite/board, building cross-culture functionality for clients to operationalize global privacy programs, and managing BDO USA team members and collaborating with BDO Member Firms and offshore team members. You will also be responsible for establishing new relationships to drive new opportunities to BDO, ensuring compliance with BDO’s Quality Risk Management, Data Protection, and other Frameworks, and managing and maintaining relationships with client professionals and introducing other BDO professionals to expand on existing relationships.

In addition, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day project requirements and the on-site and/or remote team, ensuring clients receive timely, actionable and thoughtful responses to questions, and building relationships with other BDO professionals and cross-selling into different industries and services. You will also be responsible for ensuring corporate clients are provided quality level services, updating appropriate customer relationship management, and reviewing client executive reports.

As the Director, you will also be responsible for mentoring team members to ensure quality of work product is consistent throughout client engagements, managing multiple large, complex and potentially long-term engagements and clients, and managing client expectations at all levels of the organization. You will also support the Data Protection Officer for clients, as required, develop and manage project budgets, and act as a leader and project a professional, positive attitude toward client and firm personnel.

Additionally, you will manage a team of professionals on a project or regional basis, supervise the workload of Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates on assigned engagements, and ensure Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates are trained on all relevant software, practice tools, and processes. You will also evaluate the performance of Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates, act as a mentor to these team members, and deliver periodic performance feedback and complete performance evaluations in accordance with Firm guidance.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s, Juris Doctorate, or MBA preferred
- Ten or more years of consulting experience required
- Three or more years of data protection or privacy experience required
- Experience working with Fortune 500 clients preferred
- Five or more years of experience managing large, complex privacy projects required
- One or more of the following privacy certifications required: CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT, CDPSE or other privacy certifications
- OneTrust, TrustArc, or other privacy enabled technology solutions preferred
- Strong Microsoft PowerPoint skills required
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Visio, required, including Office 365, OneDrive, and SharePoint preferred
- Multilingual capabilities preferred
