Job Description:
• Seeking attorneys or recent law school graduates awaiting bar exam results for a position with the Office of the Attorney General (OAG)
• Hands-on training in administrative law and legal research and writing
• Works with a senior attorney to gain experience in interpreting and applying the Public Information Act
• Researches and interprets laws governing public access to government information
• Drafts legal opinions, including informal open records letter rulings
• Educates citizens and public servants on their rights and obligations under the Public Information Act
• Participates in public speaking at open government conferences
• Assists in drafting bills for legislative consideration and analyzing proposed legislation
• Eligible for promotion to Assistant Attorney General I and a retention bonus contract after one year of successful completion
