Mazars is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our Controversy Services team. This position is responsible for resolving clients' federal tax controversies and issues related to individual, corporate, trusts & estates, domestic and international taxation matters. The ideal candidate will have a . in Taxation and at least 6 years of relevant work experience in tax research, resolution, and computations. A licensed attorney is required for this position. The preferred location for this role is our New York office, but it can be based in any Mazars office with a . location. We offer flexible work hours and locations, including both in-office and hybrid options. As a Tax Manager in our Controversy Services team, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced tax law professionals who are dedicated to resolving clients' tax issues and disputes. You will use your in-depth knowledge of current IRS practices and procedures to assist clients with a wide variety of tax issues and achieve the best possible outcomes. Our team is well-versed in dealing with the IRS, Treasury executives, counsel, appeals officers, and revenue agents. Some of the responsibilities of this role include planning and executing tax examinations for clients, interpreting tax laws to help resolve tax issues, preparing written responses to governmental authorities, and serving as a liaison between firm Tax Partners and client leadership. You will also have the opportunity to participate in client proposals and new business development opportunities. To be successful in this role, we require at least 6 years of relevant work experience in tax research, resolution, and computations, along with an advanced tax degree (JD; LLM, MST) and a license to practice law. Prior experience in a public accounting firm, the IRS, the Treasury Department, a law firm, or other relevant tax industry experience is preferred. We also seek someone with excellent research, writing, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as the ability to balance multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
