H2: Providing Legal Support and Advice for Security and Cyber Incidents

The Senior Counsel, Cyber and Global Security at GE Aviation is responsible for providing legal advice and support to business leaders across GE Aerospace. This role is part of the Legal and Compliance team, which is made up of experienced professionals who serve as the internal subject matter experts for all legal matters within GE Aerospace.

The senior counsel hired for this position will be a sophisticated and business-oriented attorney who can work effectively across all levels of the organization. Reporting to the General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer for the Aerospace business, the primary focus of this role will be supporting business leaders on security and cyber incidents.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Provide legal guidance and advice on data security, incident response, risk mitigation, and relevant cybersecurity laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Lead the legal response to investigations of physical security and cybersecurity incidents and vulnerabilities.
- Partner with the Global Security and Cyber teams on the development and implementation of security and cybersecurity programs and initiatives.
- Maintain and improve security and cybersecurity legal processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams on cross-functional projects related to physical security and cybersecurity.
- Partner with Government Affairs and Cyber teams on legislative issues and emerging regulations.
- Review and negotiate physical security and cybersecurity requirements in customer and third-party contracts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external legal partners and customers.
- Monitor compliance with internal business and legal processes and policies.

Required Qualifications:

- Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
- Minimum 10 years as a practicing attorney, including 8+ years of cybersecurity experience.
- Member in good standing with the State Bar.
- Eligible for a US security clearance.

Desired Characteristics:

- In-house or law firm experience preferred.
- Domain expertise in cybersecurity laws, regulations, and best practices.
