Job Shift Day Job Traveling Required Yes, 25 % of the Time Job Status Regular Department Consulting BDO is seeking a Director to join our thriving Privacy & Data Protection Practice as a subject matter expert and engagement leader. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with data protection and privacy experience to work with both domestic and international clients and professionals. The Director will be responsible for developing and delivering global data protection and privacy strategies, building cross-culture functionality for clients, and managing project teams to ensure quality work product is delivered on-time and on-budget. This role also involves establishing new relationships to drive new opportunities for the firm and managing relationships with existing clients to ensure they receive timely and thoughtful responses to their needs. The Director will also have supervisory responsibilities, including training and evaluating team members and acting as a mentor to support their professional development. Responsibilities: Develop and deliver global data protection and privacy strategies for client C-suite/board Build cross-culture functionality for clients to operationalize global privacy programs Develop and deliver privacy operations program plans for global corporate clients Manage BDO USA team members and collaborate with BDO Member Firms and offshore team members Provide detailed information to clients on domestic and global privacy laws Guide and advise team members on project budget and scheduling Establish new relationships to drive new opportunities for BDO Comply with BDO’s Quality Risk Management, Data Protection, and other Frameworks Manage and maintain relationships with client professionals and introduce other BDO professionals to expand on existing relationships Manage day-to-day project requirements and on-site/remote team Ensure timely and thoughtful responses to client questions, data subject requests, and supervisory authority inquiries Build relationships with other BDO professionals, cross-sell into different industries and services, and participate in BDO and industry events Provide quality services to corporate clients Update appropriate customer relationship management for accurate pipeline reporting Review client executive reports and provide feedback to team members Develop proposals, respond to RFP/RFI’s, and manage Master Service Agreements and engagement letters according to BDO standards Utilize knowledge of client needs to develop project and resource plans, establish reporting and metrics, and provide regular updates to clients Participate in business unit, legal, IT, privacy, and governance interviews and meetings as needed Proofread and edit executive reports before presenting to prospects and existing clients Manage client and BDO Partner expectations at all levels Mentor team members to ensure consistent quality of work product and adherence to BDO standards Manage multiple large, complex, and long-term engagements and clients Manage client expectations at all levels, including supporting in-person presentations to senior-level executives Support Data Protection Officer for clients as required Develop and manage project budgets, review invoices for consistency, and ensure timely delivery Act as a leader and project a professional, positive attitude towards clients and firm personnel Manage a team of professionals on a project or regional basis Other duties as required Supervise the workload of Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates on assigned engagements and review work product as needed Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s, Juris Doctorate, or MBA preferred 10+ years of consulting experience required 3+ years of data protection or privacy experience required Experience working with Fortune 500 clients preferred 5+ years of experience managing large, complex privacy projects required Certifications/Licenses: One or more of the following privacy certifications required: CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT, CDPSE or other privacy certifications OneTrust, TrustArc, or other privacy enabled technology solutions preferred Software: OneTrust, BigID, and other privacy and GRC software Strong Microsoft PowerPoint skills required Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Visio, required; Office 365, OneDrive, and SharePoint preferred Knowledge of database systems, software development lifecycle, and technology company operations preferred Language: Multilingual capabilities (read, speak, and/or write) preferred Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Executive presence with ability to act as primary ,000 Colorado Range: $200,000 - $225,000 NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $200,000 - $225,000 Washington Range: $200,000 - $225,000 About BDO: More than just a career, find a place where your work is impactful and you are valued for your individuality Flexibility and opportunities for advancement Culture centered around making meaningful connections, approaching interactions with curiosity, and being true to yourself while making a positive difference in the world Purpose of helping people thrive every day at the heart of everything we do Focused on delivering exceptional and sustainable outcomes and value for our
