**Legal Administrative Assistant - Consumer Protection Division**

Organization is looking for a Legal Administrative Assistant to join its Consumer Protection Division (CPD). This position provides administrative and legal secretarial support to attorneys and staff.

**Qualifications**

Minimum qualifications for this position include one year of legal secretary experience or two years of general secretary experience. Preferred qualifications include one or more years of legal secretary experience, as well as transcription skills.

**Job Duties**

Legal Administrative Assistants are responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

- Typing correspondence, briefs, pleadings, forms, agreements, and administrative orders from handwritten notes or dictation
- Filing pleadings and other legal documents in court as requested
- Answering the telephone and responding to calls from clients, attorneys, and citizens
- Preparing, copying, and faxing or mailing a variety of legal documents and correspondence
- Docketing pleadings and distributing mail for the division
- Preparing and typing control slips on new cases and distributing cases as requested
- Maintaining files for the division and records on the assignments of cases
- Maintaining leave balances for division personnel and entering time worked for all personnel to the computer
- Maintaining updated legal references for the division personnel
- Maintaining travel arrangements for division personnel
- Maintaining an adequate inventory of office supplies
- Attending division and departmental meetings as required
- Closing files and coordinating the removal of closed files
- Performing other related duties as assigned
