The Office of the Attorney General in Austin, Texas is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the role of Assistant Attorney General IV in the Tort Litigation division. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $9,000 - $9, per month, and is open to all qualified applicants. The primary responsibility of this position is to evaluate and defend against claims made against state agencies under the Texas Tort Claims Act and the Workers' Compensation Act at all stages of litigation, including pre-litigation claims, administrative hearings, jury trials, and appeals. The successful candidate will have a . from an accredited law school, be licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas, and have at least three years of full-time experience as a licensed attorney. They must also possess strong skills in legal research, case management, and effective communication. Some of the essential functions of this position include conducting legal research, analyzing complex factual and legal issues, preparing legal documents, conducting jury trials, advising clients and management, and mentoring less tenured staff. The successful candidate must also be able to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment, provide excellent customer service, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. The ideal candidate will also have experience handling personal injury cases, first chair jury trial experience, and knowledge of the Texas Tort Claims Act and the Texas Workers' Compensation Act. Familiarity with legal research tools such as MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, and LCMS is also preferred.
