Tax Manager - Trust & Estates Responsibilities: Maintain steady contact with assigned clients throughout the business year. Technical review of tax returns: 1041’s, 706’s and 709’s. Follow the progress of the work in relation to budgeted time and scheduled date of completion. Keep the Partner informed on a timely basis as to all important engagement developments including; major problems that occur, with all of the facts, their conclusions and recommendations. Deal directly with the client’s attorneys, taxing agents and other third parties. Supervise the preparation of tax returns. Managers will submit the final bill, together with a comparison of time budgeted and the time actually spent, to the Partner for review and approval. Assist/participate with practice development and firm management. Network to develop a list of contacts and begin cultivating relationships. Plan and organize work assignments. Develop and evaluate staff including addressing performance issues and concerns as need. Mentor and motivate staff. Guide staff on career and professional development. Facilitate communication amongst group.
Qualification and Experience Qualifications: Must have 8+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in Public Accounting. Experience should be in trust and estate tax planning, probate accountings and review of 1041 and 706 tax returns. A Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting (or Masters in Taxation) is required. CPA designation or JD is required, a combination is preferred. Candidates should be prepared to meet challenging client requirements, provide value added services and should possess strong communication (both oral and written), interpersonal and analytical skills. Exposure to tax preparation and research software required.
