A law firm in Washington, ., is seeking a Patent Attorney with expertise in Biotechnology and/or Chemistry. The candidate will collaborate with world-class inventors and innovators across various industries, contributing to patent searches, applications, and the management of intellectual property portfolios. The role requires a JD, active . attorney licensure, and 3-5 years of experience in patent prosecution.
Duties:
- Work with inventors and innovators in diverse industries to conduct patent searches and analyses.
- Review and understand advances in technology, particularly in biotechnology and chemistry.
- Prepare and file patent applications with the USPTO and internationally.
- Contribute to crafting and managing intellectual property (IP) and patent portfolios for clients.
- Collaborate with formal advisors and have the opportunity to request an advisor change annually.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active attorney licensure in a . jurisdiction.
- Eligibility to waive into the . Bar or willingness and eligibility to sit for the . Bar exam.
- Master's or PhD preferred in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, organic chemistry, molecular genetics, human genetics, chemical engineering, immunology, or related scientific discipline.
- USPTO registration number preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience practicing patent prosecution at another law firm.
- Strong foundation in intellectual property (IP) and patent law.
- Previous wet lab experience preferred.
- Stellar academic credentials.
