We are currently seeking a Senior Counsel to join our Legal Team in Lakewood, CO, Leawood, KS, or Houston, TX. This individual will provide support for land and environmental permitting as well as commercial transactions for a variety of midstream assets, including oil, gas, decarbonization, and other energy transition assets.

Reporting to the Vice President-Associate General Counsel and Chief FERC Compliance Officer, the Senior Counsel will operate in a fast-paced, high-performing, and multi-disciplinary environment. The ideal candidate should have experience with drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, supporting land and environmental permitting efforts, and advising on legal implications and risks associated with commercial structures.

Key Responsibilities:

- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts for midstream assets, including precedent agreements, transportation services agreements, storage agreements, power purchase agreements, MOU/LOI, and confidentiality agreements.
- Negotiate commodity purchase agreements, such as NAESB, ISDA, and carbon offset agreements.
- Provide support for land and environmental permitting for midstream projects, including experience with county land use permits and BLM right-of-way grants.
- Advise the commercial team on legal implications, risks, and opportunities associated with various commercial structures.
- Engage on projects nationwide across multiple industry sectors.
- Provide strategic and drafting advice on indemnity provisions and insurance requirements.
- Communicate effectively with technical consultants, community partners, senior management, and co-workers.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop a career within Tallgrass.
- Attend and participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.

Required Qualifications:

- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- 5-7 years of relevant legal experience supporting midstream business.
- Ability to communicate effectively with regulators, technical consultants, community partners, senior management, and co-workers.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Strong professional ethics.
- Adaptable to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Proactive and action-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

- Must be licensed to practice law in the . and either licensed or eligible to waive into the local bar.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Graduated in the top 25% of your class.

Physical Demands:

- Sitting, standing, walking, driving, talking, seeing, hearing, feeling, bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
- Minimal safety hazards; general office working conditions.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Working Conditions:

- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Must carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
- Must pass a drug screen and background check before employment.
