As a Tax Manager in the Accounting Methods and Periods group at RSM, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and provide tax consulting and advisory services around accounting methods and periods. This role requires a strong understanding of financial accounting and current financial accounting pronouncements, as well as 5+ years of experience in public accounting with a proven track record of project management and mentorship. To succeed in this role, you will need to possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to concisely articulate complex information. You will also need to have the ability to travel to client sites, which may include overnight accommodations up to 25% of the time. Your main responsibilities will include managing delivery of AMP projects, understanding and researching tax laws and regulations, and building relationships with RSM managers and partners. Key responsibilities: - Provide tax consulting and advisory services around the timing of recognizing revenue, expense, capitalization, cost recovery, and inventory accounting to clients - Manage delivery of AMP projects, including calculation of 481(a) adjustments, impact on tax provisions/reserves, and IRS exam support - Research and write tax advice, opinion, and position memorandums - Identify and pursue AMP services for existing and prospective clients - Build relationships with RSM managers and partners - Train, mentor, develop, and grow AMP professionals Requirements: - Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting - Strong understanding of financial accounting and current financial accounting pronouncements - CPA or JD required - Ability to travel up to 25% of the time - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Ability to effectively collaborate with team members, client service teams, and client teams - Masters in Accounting, Tax, or other related field preferred At RSM, we value and prioritize the wellbeing of our employees.
