A law firm in Minneapolis is currently seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory/Corporate Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in handling regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission, state energy regulatory commissions, and entities such as the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) or other ISO/RTOs or organized power markets. Experience in advocacy before state utility commissions or in power transactions, mergers, acquisitions, power sales, and related matters is advantageous. This role requires superior judgment, effective project handling, teamwork abilities, and the capacity to articulate legal strategies and courses of action. An active Bar license in the state is necessary.

 

Job Duties:

  • Manage regulatory and compliance matters before various energy regulatory commissions.
  • Handle advocacy before state utility commissions and participate in power transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and power sales.
  • Provide articulate legal strategies and effective courses of action within a legal team.

 

Requirements:

  • 4-5 years of preferred experience in energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in energy regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Proficiency in handling transactions involving mergers, acquisitions, and power sales.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.

 

Certifications:

Active Bar license in the state.

 

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Superior judgment and ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Articulate communication of legal strategies and courses of action.
