A law firm in Emeryville is seeking a Benefits Law Associate Attorney with a dedication to the labor movement and strong advocacy skills. The successful candidate will provide legal advice to union and employee benefit plan clients, attend client meetings, represent workers at arbitration hearings, handle ERISA-related litigation, and defend clients in administrative hearings and court proceedings.

 

Duties:

  • Provide general and legal advice to diverse union and employee benefit plan clients
  • Attend client meetings and represent workers at grievance arbitration hearings
  • Handle ERISA-related litigation, including enforcement of contribution obligations, subrogation, benefit denial, and withdrawal liability cases
  • Defend employee benefit plan and union clients in administrative hearings and state and federal court

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • License to practice law in California and in good standing
  • Dedication to the labor movement
  • Strong writing and oral advocacy skills
  • Attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Real estate experience is a plus
  • Motivated self-starter with superb judgment and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
