H2: About the Position:

- Full-time position with law firm in Kansas City, MO
- Representing clients in Jackson County Family Court appointments
- Reporting to and working with Pro Bono Counsel

H2: Required Education & Experience:

- . required
- Active Missouri law license
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in private, governmental, or public interest sector representing vulnerable clients in administrative/judicial proceedings
- Solid understanding of the practice of law and excellent litigation skills
- Ability to manage a significant caseload and function independently

H2: Essential Functions:

- Provide representation to clients appointed by the Jackson County Family Court
- Assist in the pro bono opening process for new appointments
- Identify potential risk management issues and consult with Firm Counsel when appropriate
- Maintain 80 to 160 open and active cases per year
- Oversee administrative staff supporting pro bono work
- Monitor expenditures to the Pro Bono Department budget
- Maintain accurate time records
- Supervise attorneys engaging in pro bono representation
- Organize and provide access to legal training and updates for volunteer attorneys
- Develop and maintain resource materials for volunteer attorneys
- Consult with volunteer attorneys on case strategy
- Provide mentorship and support for related pro bono matters
- Work with volunteer attorneys to cover planned PTO
- Track departures of volunteer attorneys and ensure appropriate re-staffing or transfer of cases
- Attend relevant conferences and meetings
- Highlight the firm's pro bono work both internally and externally
- Work on other pro bono initiatives as assigned
