Salary: $107, - $181, (may vary based on job level and geographic location)

Position Summary:
American Family Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Trial Attorney/Staff Counsel to provide legal representation and handle moderately complex litigation cases involving the corporation and/or its insured. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of litigation experience, a Juris Doctor degree and be admitted to the California State Bar or eligible for admission within a year of hiring. This is a full-time remote position open to candidates throughout the state of California.

Key Responsibilities:
- Handle litigation cases within established corporate guidelines and code of professional responsibility
- Analyze case progress and evaluate for potential settlement
- Conduct discovery and motion practice
- Draft necessary pleadings and conduct legal research
- Advocate for client position in all forums (. state and federal court, alternative dispute resolution, administrative tribunals)
- Stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyze their impact on policy provisions
- May develop areas of specialty practice (. special property, workers' compensation, environmental law)

Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of litigation experience
- Admission to the California State Bar or eligibility for admission within a year of hiring
- Juris Doctor degree
- Strong knowledge of rules of Professional Responsibility and tort, contract, and insurance law
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Strong communication and customer service skills
