Summary

The Army National Guard is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of PARALEGAL SPECIALIST within the LEGAL OFFICE- JAG. This is a National Guard Title 5 Excepted Service position with a salary range of $61,727 - $80,244 per year. The position is open to current or former competitive service federal employees, current excepted service federal employees, current members, those who want to join or transitioning military members.

Duties

- Providing paralegal support within the State Staff Judge Advocate's Office providing ancillary legal research and analysis.
- Serving as a point of contact for claims, ethics determinations, and legal assistance for Army and Air National Guard personnel and their families.
- Provides technical legal guidance and support to National Guard unit commanders and their assigned legal personnel.

Requirements

- Participation in direct deposit is MANDATORY.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position within one year of appointment.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- The incumbent of this position description must have at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

General Experience:
- 3 years of progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4.
- Demonstrates the ability to analyze problems, plan and organize work, and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work.
- Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical, or other responsible work may be qualifying.
- Experience of a general clerical nature is not creditable.
- Trades or crafts experience appropriate to the position may be creditable.

Specialized Experience:
- Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
- Typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
- Must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
