Job Summary:

The Associate Senior Counsel position at The Cigna Group is a dynamic and strategic role that provides legal advice and counsel for a region of the Cigna US Commercial Medical Network contracting team. This position requires a strong background in medical provider contracting and the health care managed care/insurance industry, as well as the ability to collaborate with various business units and partners to drive the Network contracting strategy. The Associate Senior Counsel will also be responsible for managing provider disputes and pre-litigation matters, drafting and negotiating complex provider agreements, and providing legal support for various company initiatives.

Responsibilities:

- Act as lead counsel to regional . Medical Network contracting teams, providing strategic legal advice and support to ensure business goals are met.
- Provide day-to-day legal support for network management, including strategy and advice on contracting approaches, compliance with policies, and problem solving.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex provider agreements, considering business implications, risks, and regulatory or third-party contractual considerations.
- Manage provider disputes and pre-litigation matters, collaborating with key legal, compliance, and business partners to address issues and mitigate negative effects.
- Support various company initiatives, such as value-based contracting and cost-savings strategies, through close collaboration with legal, compliance, and business leadership.
- Assist with review of provider termination notices and attend provider appeal hearings.
- Collaborate with internal partners, including the network team, compliance, litigation, and other business units, to provide legal and practical advice on a variety of decisions.

Qualifications:

- Law degree and at least 8-10 years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm.
- Strong analytical and contract writing skills, as well as strong negotiating skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively.
- Demonstrated good judgment and willingness to take on difficult projects.
- Ability to engage with a variety of business stakeholders and work effectively with matrix partners and team members.

*This is a Hybrid role with 50% of the time in office.
