Nationwide is currently seeking a Sr Trial Attorney to join our Legal team in Seattle, Washington. As a Sr Trial Attorney, you will have the opportunity to represent clients under both commercial and personal lines insurance policies independently as lead counsel, as well as be part of a larger team as needed. This role requires a minimum of eight years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Independently represent clients under both commercial and personal lines insurance policies as lead counsel, as well as part of a larger team as needed
- Maintain a highly productive case volume and adhere to Nationwide Trial Division standard methodology guidelines
- Utilize technology and work collaboratively with support staff to ensure efficient case management
- Stay updated on changes to the law, technology, and other aspects of the legal and insurance industries
- Possess subject matter expertise and trial advocacy skills in multiple areas of concentration
- Provide accurate and timely case valuations to clients and claims
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with key associates and partners within the legal and insurance industries
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and staff
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Education: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school

License/Certification/Designation: Active license in the state of Washington

Experience: Minimum of eight years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

- Significant litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation
- Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form
- Highly collaborative and able to work with staff and other attorneys
- Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent analytical and legal skills
- Resourceful and capable problem solver
- Proficient in basic software and adaptable to changes in technology
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Leadership skills, including motivation, problem solving, and collaboration
- Familiarity with ethical rules and corporate policies and procedures

Working Conditions:

- Generally, a normal office environment with the possibility of working from home
- Frequent travel and occasional overnight travel may be required
- Extended hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the profession
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
