Responsibilities:

- Represent clients on direct appeal in the Appellate Division
- Case conferencing and strategy development
- Client communication and legal visits
- Brief drafting
- Oral argument
- Leave applications
- Advise clients on potential appellate options, including withdrawal of guilty pleas and negotiating pleas or other remedies following reversal of convictions
- Assist with intake evaluation of cases
- Manage cases and deadlines with case management system

Qualifications:

- . degree, with preferably three years of relevant appellate litigation experience
- Admission to the New York Bar, or ability to secure immediate admission pursuant to 22 NYCRR §
- Outstanding legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage case files with complex legal issues
- Trial court experience, particularly in post-conviction proceedings, is a plus
- Demonstrated commitment to representing indigent individuals and understanding racial and economic issues in criminal justice
- Strong belief in communication and respect for all people
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
