The Position:

As a Mid-Level Patent Associate at our firm, you will be responsible for patent drafting and prosecution, with a minimum of 2 years of experience at a firm or in-house. You should have a strong background in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering and be knowledgeable in video processing and video codecs, including relevant standards for video encoding and decoding. Experience in virtual/augmented reality and AI is a plus. This position can be based out of our Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Denver, Raleigh, or Salt Lake City office.

Job Requirements:

- Minimum of 2 years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
- Strong knowledge and experience in video processing and video codecs
- Familiarity with video coding standards
- Experience in virtual/augmented reality and AI is a plus
- Graduate-level experience or advanced technical degree is a plus
- Involvement with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus
- Admission to the USPTO is a plus

Salary Information:

For Colorado applicants only (as required by the Colorado Equal Pay Act), the starting salary for associate positions in our Denver office is $190,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors, including experience in the practice area. Associates are also eligible to participate in Michael Best’s associate bonus program, subject to its conditions and restrictions. This position is full-time and includes eligibility for employer-sponsored benefits, such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability coverage. All full-time employees are also eligible to participate in the firm's 401(k) plan.
