Job Title: Patent Associate
Department: Patent Practice Group
Experience: 2-3 years patent prosecution experience

Pierce Atwood, a midsized law firm with offices in New England and Washington DC, is seeking a Patent Associate to join their Patent Practice Group in the Portland, Maine office. The ideal candidate should have a degree and background in computer science, electrical engineering, or physics and a technical understanding of medical devices, robotics, and/or machine learning. Key Responsibilities:
- Prosecuting patents for clients in the medical devices, robotics, and/or machine learning industries
- Conducting patent research and analysis
- Drafting patent applications and responses to office actions
- Collaborating with a team of attorneys and clients

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or physics
- 2-3 years of experience in patent prosecution
- Strong technical understanding of medical devices, robotics, and/or machine learning
- Excellent academic credentials
- Exceptional analytical skills
- Excellent writing ability
