Responsibilities: - Assist in reviewing pleadings prepared by outside counsel, including but not limited to, summons, complaints, affidavits, answers, motions, orders and judgments. - Review and prepare discovery responses and objections, locate knowledgeable persons to help develop responses, and assist with case settlement. - Research and analyze law sources, conduct factual research, and gather relevant information from a variety of resources. - Maintain case management system, including analyzing complaints, investigating claims, and retaining outside counsel. - Serve as liaison between outside counsel, internal departments, and in-house attorneys. - Manage the intake and preparation of responses to Subpoenas. - Provide business units with monthly status of pending litigation, contested matters, or remediation of title issues. - Prepare and maintain quarterly pre-litigation and litigation reports. Requirements: - Good understanding of mortgage servicing and litigation. - Intermediate skills in MS Suite, Word, Excel required. - Strong writing and proofreading skills. - Ability to understand complex problems, pay close attention to details, and collaborate and explore alternative solutions. - Ability to make decisions and monitor impact outside the immediate work unit. - Ability to understand opposing points of view and negotiate and integrate different viewpoints. - Ability to organize and prioritize work schedule. - Ability to accurately track and record time. - Associate’s degree and paralegal certification or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college. - Two or more years’ experience as a paralegal and in mortgage servicing.
