As a Claims Specialist in the Management Liability (ML) department, you will handle primary and excess claims involving Public and Private D&O, Financial Institutions, and Private Equity. This role requires a Juris Doctor degree and 2+ years of experience in either a law firm or an insurance company. The ideal candidate will have excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Independently handle a portfolio of middle-market primary and excess claims, including analyzing insurance coverage issues and drafting coverage position letters
• Investigate liability and damages issues in connection with claims made against our insureds and maintain appropriate documentation
• Evaluate claims and make accurate reserve recommendations
• Attend mediations/settlement conferences and negotiate claim resolutions
• Assign and supervise outside counsel in the defense of our insureds
• Maintain and develop relationships with insureds, brokers, and outside counsel
• Communicate regularly with Senior Claim and Underwriting Managers
• Represent AXIS in the marketplace and assist underwriting as needed
• Provide best-in-class claims service

Required Education, Experience, and Attributes:

• 2+ years of experience in a law firm or insurance company
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills and Characteristics:

• Prior exposure to middle-market D&O and E&O matters, Federal Securities Class Actions, Derivative Litigation, and SEC-related matters
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Team player with excellent writing skills
• Demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills
• Adjuster licenses where required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications and Share Point

Salary Information:

• New York, NY - $110,000 - $160,000
• Short Hills, NJ - $85,000 - $150,000
• Los Angeles, CA - $85,000 - $150,000
• Chicago, IL - $80,000 - $135,000
• Alpharetta, GA - $70,000 - $125,000
