The AAG will be cross-designated as a Special United States Attorney (SAUSA) and work with federal agencies to identify, investigate, and prosecute significant health care fraud cases. The position requires a Top Secret federal security clearance and a three-year commitment to the MFCU/USAO. Responsibilities include independently directing and conducting investigations, preparing for and conducting trials, and advising on legal matters. The AAG will also make charging decisions and proposals and collaborate with management to develop effective national investigation and prosecution programs. The position will be supervised by the Deputy Chief of Prosecution in the OAG MFCU Austin headquarters, but will be supervised day-to-day by the USAO. Training opportunities will be provided by the MFCU and travel will be facilitated by the USAO. As a condition of grant funding, the AAG must only engage in health care-related investigation and prosecution activities with a Texas Medicaid nexus. Applicants must pass an extensive background investigation and have a . from an accredited law school, a license to practice law in Texas, and three years of full-time litigation experience.
