## Assistant State’s Attorney, Criminal Division

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office is seeking an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Misdemeanor, Felony Trial Division, and various units of the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau. This is a full-time, exempt position and the successful candidate will be assigned to cover geographical areas in Cook County, including Chicago, Suburban Courthouses, and surrounding suburban districts including Skokie, Rolling Meadows, Maywood, Bridgeview, and Markham.

### Responsibilities

The Assistant State’s Attorney will be responsible for:

- Preparing misdemeanor, felony, and traffic cases for disposition by plea, trial, or alternative prosecution resolution
- Researching legal issues, drafting pretrial motions and other relevant legal documents, and responding to defense pretrial and post-trial motions appropriately
- Litigating pretrial and post-trial motions, petitions to rescind summary suspensions, bench trials, and/or jury trials
- Conducting bond hearings at both the misdemeanor and felony levels
- Communicating with and supporting victims and witnesses throughout the pendency of case proceedings
- Making appropriate charging decisions in felony matters through preliminary hearings or indictment before the Grand Jury of Cook County
- Presenting witness testimony before the Grand Jury

The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:

- Excellent work ethic, attention to detail, accountability, and sound judgment

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience.
