The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is hiring an Assistant Attorney General IV-V for the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU). This position will be cross-designated as a Special United States Attorney (SAUSA) and serve as a Trial Attorney/Prosecutor for the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) – Southern District and work with the FBI, HHS-OIG, and other agency partners in order to identify, investigate, and prosecute significant health care fraud (HCF) cases.

The successful candidate must have a . and be licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas. A minimum of three years of full-time litigation experience is required for the Assistant Attorney General IV position, with an additional year of experience required for the Assistant Attorney General V position. Knowledge of laws and legal principles and practices relevant to the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit such as the . Code, Federal Code of Criminal Procedure, and Code of Federal Regulations is necessary. This position requires excellent communication, legal research, writing, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, meet deadlines, exercise sound judgment, and provide excellent customer service. The successful candidate will be required to pass an extensive background investigation, including a comprehensive criminal history, employment, education, financial status, reputation, and social media check. A Top Secret federal security clearance will also be required in order to fully participate in DOJ Prosecutions as a SAUSA.

**Salary Information**

The salary for the Assistant Attorney General IV position is $8, - 10, per month, and the salary for the Assistant Attorney General V position is $9, - 11, per month. **Essential Position Functions**

The Assistant Attorney General IV-V will independently direct, conduct, and monitor investigations, prepare for and conduct trials, and advise on pleadings and other court filings. The position will also be responsible for preparing and presenting complex criminal cases involving federal health care laws and regulations; preparing legal opinions, briefs, pleadings, motions, petitions, and other legal documents; analyzing complex factual and legal issues; developing evidence through witness interviews, subpoenas, search warrants, proffers, and other legal process; making charging decisions and proposing dispositions; preparing cases for trial, discovery, jury and bench trial, and appellate process when necessary; performing legal research and reporting findings and conclusions; advising investigators and management on factual and legal issues; assisting investigators and auditors in investigations; using personal vehicle, or agency pool vehicles when available, for business-related travel with reimbursement; maintaining relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions; attending work regularly; ensuring security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information; complying with all agency policies and procedures; and complying with requirements of federal grant funding for the MFCU.

- Graduation from an accredited law school with a .
- Licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas
- Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
- Three years of full-time litigation experience (four years for AAG V)
- Knowledge of laws and legal principles and practices relevant to the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit such as the . Code, Federal Code of Criminal Procedure, Code of Federal Regulations
- Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
