H2: Join the Office of the Attorney General as an Assistant Attorney General I-II in the Consumer Protection Division

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a highly qualified and licensed attorney to join their team as an Assistant Attorney General I-II in the Consumer Protection Division. This is a full-time, regular position with a salary range of $6, - $7, per month. The OAG is a dynamic state agency with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas, providing exemplary legal representation in diverse areas of law.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct consumer protection investigations
- Manage a docket of beginning and intermediate level cases
- Litigate civil enforcement cases from start to finish
- Research and analyze complex legal and factual matters
- Provide legal advice and assistance to team members and management
- Work collaboratively with team members to develop effective litigation strategies
- Represent the Office of the Attorney General in state and federal courts
- Evaluate proposed and enacted laws to advance Texas's interests
- Participate in rulemaking and respond to Texas Public Information Act requests
- Respond to legislative inquiries and draft proposed legislation
- Maintain knowledge of legal principles and practices relevant to consumer protection
- Provide training to less experienced staff
- Perform related work as assigned

Qualifications:

- Graduation from accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree (.)
- Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
- Knowledge of consumer protection laws and related statutes
- Skill in legal research, writing, and analysis
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure and cooperatively with others
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prepare legal documents, conduct research, and interpret laws
- Ability to handle stressful situations and receive constructive feedback
- Ability to work in a professional office environment and provide excellent customer service
- Ability to work in-person at assigned OAG work location and travel up to 5%

Experience Level:

- Assistant Attorney General I - Entry Level
- Assistant Attorney General II - Mid-Level

Preferred Qualifications:

- Focus on consumer protection and/or commercial litigation subjects in education
- Experience with electronic document review platforms and programs
- Trial experience in litigation involving consumer protection laws
- Knowledge of Deceptive Trade Practices Act and related statutes
- Ability to work collaboratively within a larger organization
