Amazon is seeking an experienced regulatory and compliance attorney to join their legal team as an Associate Corporate Counsel for Environmental Compliance and Hazardous Goods. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to support Amazon's environmental compliance, storage and transportation of hazardous goods, and extended producer responsibility teams in North America. You will also have the chance to work alongside other compliance teams and contribute to the development of new processes and tools to ensure Amazon's compliance with environmental and safety requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have at least 2 years of legal experience, a Juris Doctor degree, and be a member of one state bar or equivalent. You should also have experience in private practice or in-house at a technology company or equivalent. Additionally, you should have a strong understanding of US federal and state environmental regulations and regulators, as well as global environmental and technical regulations related to consumer products. The preferred location for this position is in Arlington, VA, but Amazon is open to candidates in other locations such as New York, NY or Seattle, WA.

As an Assoc Corporate Counsel, your key responsibilities will include providing legal advice to Amazon's Environmental Assurance and Protection, Dangerous Goods, Hazardous Storage, and Extended Producer Responsibility teams on regulations governing their operations, facilities, and products. You will also be responsible for monitoring and advising on upcoming regulatory changes, providing legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools, and acting as lead counsel in response to environmental and hazardous goods regulatory inquiries. Additionally, you will be expected to have strong organizational and project management skills, be able to work independently and contribute to cross-functional teams, and be willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
