This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse and challenging docket, ranging from individual civil rights claims to complex institutional reform litigation, class actions, and public policy litigation. The OAG is a dynamic state agency with over 4,000 employees throughout Texas, providing exemplary legal representation in diverse areas of law. Key Responsibilities: - Represent state agencies and officials in lawsuits involving civil rights, employment, and constitutionality of state statutes - Conduct investigations, perform legal research, and prepare complex motions and legal documents - Prepare and try cases in state and federal courts - Provide legal advice and counsel to state agencies - Maintain knowledge of relevant laws and legal principles - Comply with agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity Qualifications: - Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school - Two years of experience as a licensed attorney in civil litigation - Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas - Knowledge of laws and legal principles relevant to the General Litigation Division - Strong multitasking and time management skills - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Sound judgment and decision-making abilities - Ability to work collaboratively and provide excellent customer service - Must be able to work in-person at assigned OAG location and travel as needed To apply, submit an electronic application through CAPPS Recruit.
