Litigation Attorney Law Firm Shannon & Wright LLP is looking for an experienced and highly motivated civil and commercial litigation attorney to join their litigation practice. The successful candidate will serve as a pivotal member of the team and will be based out of either the Alexandria or Leesburg office. This role will require independent management and performance of complex civil litigation procedures, representing clients in Circuit Court and Appellate level cases as second-chair and lead counsel in General District Court matters. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of direct civil and commercial litigation experience along with excellent writing, research, and communication skills. Candidates must be barred in Virginia (MD and DC a plus). Responsibilities: Independently manage and perform complex civil litigation procedures from client intake to closing file as assigned Work closely and support Partners’ cases and legal projects representing clients in a wide range of litigation needs Attend, lead and assist in court appearances and depositions Proactively communicate and update clients on case progress and actions Meet with new clients to assess, draft and complete their legal needs Coordinate and assist in all aspects of litigation through trial and completion of the case Ensure timely entry of time and billing details daily and in line with the firm best practices Work with Firm Administrator and the Managing Partner to support the goals of the firm and the partners Ensure all actions are in support of the Virginia Bar and other applicable bars and legal best practices Qualifications: Current Virginia Bar Membership in good standing Minimum 5 years successfully litigating civil cases in Virginia courts Advanced understanding of civil court system Strong understanding of real estate and commercial law Knowledge of legal processes and local court requirements including trial and appellate court systems Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills including capturing, detailing and follow up skills Professional office experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Teams, Outlook, Word and Adobe Preferred, but not required: DC Bar Membership Maryland Bar Membership Clio software experience NetDocuments software experience Compensation: Law Firm Shannon & Wright LLP offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that will acknowledge the successful candidate’s past law firm tenure and provide future growth opportunities.
