Corporate Counsel - Legal Advisor for Brkthru

Salary: $135,000 - $170,000 per year, up to 10% bonus

The Opportunity:

- Newly created role reporting to the EVP of Business Strategy & Legal
- Highly visible position among Brkthru’s senior leadership
- Navigating legal risks and opportunities in a fast-paced, high growth environment

Responsibilities:

- Provide practical, creative legal advice
- Draft, review, negotiate and revise legal instruments and documents
- Regularly interact with business leadership team on legal matters
- Work closely with HR team to address employment related issues
- Represent company in less complex litigation matters
- Conduct research and analysis and prepare legally sound responses
- Draft internal policies and assist with implementation
- Develop and maintain a contract management system
- Support innovative ways to scale legal processes
- Manage outside legal counsel
- Review relevant laws to ensure compliance
- Review legal publications and pending legislation

Requirements:

- Minimum of 7 years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor from an accredited . based law school
- Current admission to, and in good standing with, the State Bar of Michigan
- Litigation experience is a must
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Advanced level experience with contract review, drafting and negotiations
- Knowledge of labor and employment laws
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to provide practical legal advice with business objectives in mind
- Collaborative, team-oriented attitude
- Experience managing outside legal counsel
- Ability to work independently and multi-task
- Understanding of budgets and financial statements
- Experience in traditional or digital media industry is desirable
