# Overview of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) Internships and Clerkships
Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) regularly hosts undergraduate students, recent graduates, and law students in offices across our service area for a semester, internship, externship, a mini-mester, co-op, or the summer. TRLA internships and clerkships are unpaid. TRLA also has limited summer fellowship funding for students placed in a rural office.

## Qualifications
To qualify for a TRLA internship or clerkship, applicants must:

- Be an undergraduate student or recent graduate seeking internship
- Be a law student seeking clerkship or summer fellowship
- Have Spanish fluency
- Have an interest in rural or border placement
- Have a maximum of 3 words
- Have an approximate date of graduation from undergraduate school
- Have a Spanish language proficiency
- Have preferred offices for their time working with TRLA
- Have a cover letter addressing one or more of the following:
- Describe a significant legal or social justice experience and its impact on your plan to pursue public interest law.
- Describe some of the unique challenges you think or know clients in our service area may experience in rural or border areas and how an agency like TRLA can help.
- Describe any connection, personal or professional, to our service area and the client populations we serve.
- Upload a resume
- Upload a writing sample
- Upload references
- Answer how they heard about TRLA and/or TRLA clerkships/internships
- Answer if they are related to any current employee of TRLA, TRLA's Board of Directors, or other person that is compensated by TRLA for their services
