Amazon is currently seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel for its Environmental Compliance/Hazardous Goods team. This position is a unique opportunity to work alongside several of Amazon’s compliance teams to support Amazon’s store, devices, and operational businesses and to build new and audit existing processes that raise the bar for Amazon’s compliance with environmental and safety requirements.

The successful candidate should have a legal degree and be a member in good standing in at least one . state bar and possess 5+ years of relevant legal experience as a practicing attorney with experience handling environmental compliance, regulatory, and litigation matters.

In this role, the Corporate Counsel will be responsible for:

• Providing day-to-day advice to Amazon’s Environmental Assurance and Protection, Dangerous Goods, Hazardous Storage, and Extended Producer Responsibility teams on regulations governing our operations, facilities, and products.
• Monitoring and advising compliance, business, and legal teams on upcoming regulatory changes and maintenance of existing compliance processes.
• Providing mission critical legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools developed and used by the environmental compliance, hazardous goods, and operations teams.
• Advising on internal processes and practices to support environmental and hazardous goods governance requirements and expectations.
• Serving as lead counsel in the response and resolution of environmental and hazardous goods regulatory inquiries.

The ideal candidate should have experience with US federal and state environmental regulations and regulators, experience with global environmental and technical regulations attaching to the manufacture, sale, distribution, use, and disposition of consumer products, strong organizational and project management skills, a combination of law firm, in-house, or government experience, ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional team, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

The base pay for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company and dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
