Position Summary

IPA is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their team. This position offers the opportunity to provide legal support to IPA's global operations, including contract reviews and negotiations, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and support for the organization's country programs and operations. The successful candidate may work remotely in Connecticut, Washington, DC, or New York, or in the Washington, DC office on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

- Draft, negotiate, and interpret contracts, grants, subawards, vendor agreements, leases, and other legal agreements.
- Liaise with IPA's global network of outside counsel to ensure adequate legal support for the organization's country programs and operations.
- Support the General Counsel in ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Provide advice and counsel on data privacy laws, US Government Contract and Grant regulations, employment laws, and other areas as needed.
- Support the implementation of the organization's compliance awareness program and conduct internal investigations as needed.
- Assist with the legal registration of new country offices overseas and ensure global legal compliance.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on various areas of law.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

- . degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Connecticut, New York, or Washington, DC bar.
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork-oriented with the ability to mentor and train others.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and good judgment.
- Experience in USAID Rules and Regulations, Employment Law, Data Privacy Laws, and contract drafting and negotiations is a plus.

Preferred

- Fluency in Spanish or French is preferred.
