Job Summary:

The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is seeking an experienced executive director to lead their risk management and legal affairs department. As one of the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the nation, CHLA is dedicated to providing the best care for children in California. The executive director will play a crucial role in protecting the financial and operational assets of the organization, while also promoting a culture of safety and risk management within the hospital. This position requires a minimum of 10 years of risk management experience or a combination of pediatric nursing and risk management experience, with a preference for previous management experience. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required, with a JD or advanced degree in healthcare or related field preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement risk management programs that align with CHLA's strategic goals and protect the organization's financial and operational assets.
- Create and enforce risk tolerance policies for CHLA and provide education and direction for all areas of potential risk.
- Collaborate with CHLA Medical Group (CHLAMG) on shared risk and claims management.
- Provide leadership and direction to the risk management and legal affairs team.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices in risk management and legal affairs.
- Serve as a liaison between CHLA and external legal counsel.
- Oversee the investigation of incidents and claims, and ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with insurance carriers and brokers.
- Prepare and present risk management reports to the CHLA Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 10 years of risk management experience or a combination of pediatric nursing and risk management experience.
- Previous management experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- JD or advanced degree in healthcare or related field preferred.

Salary Information:

The salary range for this position is USD $130, - USD $233,. Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on factors such as education, experience, and industry knowledge.
